For fourteen-year-old Tom Fuller, the adventure of a lifetime is something to look forward to as he is busy planning and saving for a volunteering trip to Peru next year. Organised by Camps International, Tom will spend a month in the country, travelling with a group from Poole Grammar school, staying in the Andes mountains, helping local communities, many of whom live below the poverty line.
To help raise money for the expedition, Tom has been getting in touch with local businesses for sponsorship, as well as organising fundraising events, and local contract cleaning company, Two Counties Cleaning is among those who have sponsored him.
Speaking of the trip Tom commented “I really think it will be the most rewarding things I’ve done in my life so far. We will be helping build local schools and community facilities for people who don’t have the luxuries we enjoy in the UK. We will be working hard, as well as taking a trek to Machu Picchu which will be amazing.”
Camps International is a social enterprise, connecting different worldwide communities, and providing opportunities for young people to work in partnership with people overseas. Matthew Turl, Business Development Director at Two Counties Cleaning said, “We work with Tom’s father and heard about his Peruvian adventure and decided to help with a donation. We know it will be a life enhancing, character building experience and look forward to hearing all about it upon his return.”
Poole Grammar School Head Teacher Andy Baker added, “The boys will experience a very different culture and see at first hand how life chances vary between and within different communities – and hopefully come back with a commitment to make a positive contribution to the lives of others.
Two Counties Cleaning is one of the south’s leading contract cleaning suppliers across Hampshire and Dorset, specialising in school and office cleaning, and are contracted to clean the Camps International offices in Ringwood, Hants. Two Counties Cleaning supports many charities, including Oakhaven Hospice, the British Heart Foundation and Naomi House.
